The Nevada Office of the Attorney General serves as the top law enforcement office for Nevada. In addition to providing legal services for the State of Nevada, the office also prosecutes certain crimes and provides victim support services. The victim notification system is a service offered by the Nevada Office of the Attorney General as a public service to victims and survivors of crime pursuant to NRS 228.205. The Nevada Attorney General facilitates the Committee on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault which serves as the governance committee for the victim notification system. Within the Office of the Nevada Attorney General, the victim notification system is managed by the Ombudsman for Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Human Trafficking.
Local law enforcement entities and the Nevada Department of Corrections collaborate with the Office of Attorney General to provide custody updates for victims and survivors. However, the Office of the Attorney General does not have custody of the person who is charged with an offence.
